To start playing:

How the Game Works

The game presents a random Open Food Facts product needing completion. Answer simple "Yes / No / Skip" questions about its attributes to help fill in the gaps!

Screenshot of the Open Food Facts Hunger Game Interface

The interface has three main parts:

1. The Question

Answer by clicking "Yes", "No", or "Skip". The game automatically moves to the next product.

Use the filters at the top to focus on specific question types:

  • Label: Does the product have a specific label (e.g., "Organic", "Fair Trade")?
  • Category: Does it belong to a category (e.g., "Yogurts", "Chocolate Cookies")?
  • Brand: Questions about the product's brand.
  • Product Weight: Questions about the weight/volume (e.g., 100g, 1L).

You'll see:

  1. A search field (optional) to filter by brand, label, etc.
  2. The question itself (e.g., "Does this product match the value?").
  3. A photo of the product.
  4. The three answer buttons (Yes / No / Skip).

Important: If you're not 100% sure, always choose "Skip"! Accuracy is key. Someone else can verify it later. Collaboration makes the data better!

2. Access Information

If the answer isn't clear from the main image, use these tools:

  • Click product photos to zoom in.
  • Use the "View" button to see the full product page on Open Food Facts.
  • Use the "Edit" button to make direct corrections on the product page (useful for more complex changes).

3. Annotations & Progress

On the right (or bottom on mobile), you'll find helpful info:

  • Number of products remaining (based on your filters).
  • Your contribution count for the session.
  • A history of your recent actions.
